  so, that spooky season is almost upon us again.

  how many of you, will go on haunted house tours or delve into anything spiritistic?

  i mean we don't want the demons to attach to us, do we?!

  I belong to two paranormal field investigation groups... <hey! points stifle that laughter!>

  We are doing a seminar at a haunted hotel, and then going on a field investigation through the city's haunted locations and some cemetaries in mid-September; then the other group is doing an "Ultimate Ghost Hunt" November 1. Ought to be lots of fun!

  About a month ago, Discovery channel contacted our esteemed and fearless leader, and interviewed him at a haunted railroad crossing in San Antonio. They measured the road, the tracks, etc. They interviewed the equipment guy (with the thermal imaging setup). It was lots of fun and I got some great pics! But it wasn't very scary since everyone in the neighborhood heard that Discovery was there and the place was packed with cars waiting to go over the tracks.   Although Discovery discovered there is an incline in the road that makes your car go down over the tracks, it's still pretty eerie out there. Yikes!

  as we entered a door of the administration building we did not head to the elevator to take us up the eight floors to the main administration floor.

  i looked around the room and asked, "what's up with her?

  i was going to work with the elder from hell who ran the photography department.

  1 Hour to my sons Judicial Committee

  well this is about as real as it gets.

  in about an hour my son will be appearing before a judicial committee for the second time in as many weeks.

  unfortunately i just happen to be about 3000 miles away right now (business trip) so i cant be there for support and i cant get the ancillary information that i would normally get just by being present.

  Should sexual predators be released into society?

  my question stems from a case arising in contra coast county, california.

  the state wants to release a sexually violent predator into the community of martinez, under a strict release program, including monitoring and therapy.

  cary verse is a jehovah's witness and wants to live in the neighborhood of a kingdom hall.

  jw's always say that we better watch out because satan the devil is always looking at us to try to devour us.

  we are told not to get involved with anything that is against god's will because satan is constantly looking at us to trick us into serving him.

  satan is so powerful that he influences billions of people.

  What I was always curious about, since I was a little teeny tiny wee girl <yeah, back in the day> was why Satan was so omnipotent when SUPPOSEDLY we were protected by Jehovah. Why *would* you worry about anything you do, since you were supposedly protected by this almighty god? I never understood that. As far as I understood, the minute you became a baptized Witness, Satan held no sway, yet there were always Witnesses afraid to go to the Goodwill since Satan might be lurking among the haphazardly displayed items on the shelf?

  I've always been a horse fan. Still am. I had a horse when I was a little girl. I had no saddle for him. I qualify this: he was a pony. I bought him from my babysitting money. I found a perfectly good pony saddle at the Goodwill when I was there with my Mother, but I couldn't get it because it "looked" demonized. How does something "look" demonized? How did they qualify what was demonized and what was not?

  I ended up buying a pony saddle from the neighors. My pony hated it. The minute I would put it on him, he'd try to buck it off. That was more demonizing than I was ready for. I just rode him bareback til I got too big to ride him. sigh.

  The thing is: this is just not limited to JW couples, this problem is played out in every city, every day, all the time. Although the JW's may be known to "downsize" the problem, that is just not common to them. It's common to all groups who have an interest in maintaining their squeaky clean image in the community. You will find this problem on Mormon, Adventist, and Catholic sites.

  The problem boils down to people thinking they have the right to make a life or death decision for another human, which they don't. It is simply the matter of control. No one has the right to control the actions of another free-thinking human of choice. The baseline is that every person is on this Earth is free to make the choices that make them happy, regardless of what anyone else thinks, and that is it.

  I know, I know... we are only concerned when this happens within the JW community because we want to cipher them out as having some sort of deviant behavior. But, you know, their behavior is no different that the thousands of other Catholics, Muslims, Methodiest, etc. on the face of the earth that have marital and family problems and kill themselves and their families. It's not a slap in the face of religion, it's a slap in the face of the person who's doing the killing's character.

  Do you tell your spouse or partner EVERYTHING?

  from my experience, and im fairly young so i still have a lot to learn, but i found that being honest can be very difficult and it also takes a good level of trust from both parties.

  one night my fiance and i just sat and told each other everything about our past, you know, (if i tell him that he might leave) that kind of stuff.

  well i'll tell you it was one of the most difficult things i've ever done.

  Whew! that's for sure Tres! I once told my husband that I was developing feelings for one of my fellow students. I thought it might be an indication that we needed more time together in the relationship, otherwise it woudn't have happned. It accomplished two things: 1) hurt his feelings; and 2) made me aware that total honesty is not *always* the best policy, if it's brutal.

  I WANT REVENGE!!!!!

  well, it has finally happened.

  my jw husband came home last week and told me he is moving out.

  it seems he has been talking to the elders, and they feel his spirituality is being threatened (even though i have not insisted he stop going to meetings, i won't allow any jw material in my home because of my children from a previous marriage - i don't want them exposed to it.

  My personal favorite is to go to the Sporting Goods store and get a bottle of skunk or deer urine (hunters use it to cover their scents while hunting), put it in a syringe and inject it into the rubber lining of his car door. The syringe doesn't leave any marks, but the scent is a gift that keeps on giving. <grin>

  As a witness did you secretly celebrate holidays?

  when i was a witness i knew of many who would either celebrate certain holidays in secret or make up for them some other way.

  such as, family day ( christmas ) costume parties ( halloween ), i even knew several who made it a point to go see the fireworks on the 4th of july.

  my mother told a wife of an elder that she always felt weird on mother's day for not sending a card to her mom, because her mom expected one.

  We always had a "dinner" on Thanksgiving, although we didn't do thanksgiving rituals. My Dad owned his own business, and wasn't a Witness, so he'd always have that day off. He'd stay home and Mom would make a big dinner of lamb (since we are Mediterannean) and invite friends (non-Witnesses) over. It was a special day, but not like the other kids' houses.

  We could get Christmas presents and say "thank you" but couldn't give them or acknowledge the holiday.

  We could also get Valentine's Day cards, but could not give them out. How embarassing. We could sing "winter" songs, like "Frosty The Snowman." But if it mentioned Christ or Christmas, we were s*it outta luck.

  What was really horrible is that when I got out, I had nowhere to go on Thanksgiving, since my family didn't celebrate. Luckily, I had nice people I worked with that would invite me to their houses. So I spent the first 10 years after I got out with people from work, whch was good! I wish I could tell them how much it meant to me.
